Tamatea / Dusky Sound is world renowned for its abundance of sea life.

New Zealand’s black foot abalone (paua), lobster (crayfish), green lip mussel and prized sea urchin (kina) are all located in Dusky. Depending on the season, Dusky Sound also holds an abundance of incredible table fish, the likes of blue cod, butterfish, groper (hapuku), moki and terakihi.

Guests have the opportunity to collect and experience only the freshest of seafood, in a true forage for a feed experience. Our chefs will uniquely prepare each variety of seafood to showcase and hero the individual flavours. This abundance that exists in Ata Whenua Fiordland’s waters is rare, and together we protect it by guests only taking from the waters what they need during their expedition.

Shadowland Expeditions' culinary experience brings a personal and interactive passage through each dish. Our food is inspired by Fiordland National Park and its surrounding environment. We hand source rare and beautiful ingredients from pristine ocean waters where texture and harmony work together to provide a true onboard epicurean journey.

We pair our cuisine with an extensive range of fine New Zealand wines from boutique winemakers who care as much about their wines, as we do about our food.
