Shadowland Expeditions’ culinary experience brings a personal and interactive passage through each dish. Our food is inspired by Fiordland National Park and its surrounding environment.

We hand-source rare and beautiful ingredients whose texture and harmony work together to provide a true on-board epicurean journey. We pair our cuisine with an extensive range of fine New Zealand wines from boutique winemakers who care as much about their wines, as we do about our food.

Overnight expeditions

Your personal chef aboard uses only the freshest local ingredients, meticulously crafting each dish to your taste.

In a true forage for a feed experience, this will be freshly caught fish or crayfish you have gathered yourself, free-range venison, Lumina Lamb or Angus Beef which are all sourced from Minaret Station’s 50,000-acre working farm. Our beautiful produce is provided by our passionate local growers.

We pair our food with an extensive range of fine New Zealand wines from boutique winemakers who care as much about their wines as we do about our food.

Day expeditions

Our gourmet picnic lunches are created to complement the all-encompassing environment on the Dusky Sound Expedition.

In a true forage for a feed experience, this could be freshly caught fish or crayfish you have gathered yourself, or protein direct from Minaret Station’s own high-country station. Complimentary salads are assembled from local producers using seasonal harvest. 

The culmination of fresh produce and proteins create dishes that showcase the best of the cuisine of New Zealand’s South Island.
